I’m Katerina Zachari, founder of Lato. Born in Athens, Greece, and educated at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, my passion for language and culture began with tutoring students and immigrant children.

Since 1995, I’ve worked with Hellenic American University, multinational companies, embassies, and cultural centers, teaching Greek to expats, executives, diplomats, and their families. Our intensive program enabled professionals to actively participate in meetings within six months. From my students, I have gained a deep appreciation for multiculturalism.

Living in Amsterdam since 2013, I’ve been inspired by the Dutch enthusiasm for Greek language and culture. Recognizing the need to present an authentic Greek experience beyond its tourist appeal, I founded Lato to bridge this gap, integrating language and culture seamlessly.

Our Story

Located in the heart of Amsterdam, our passion and dedication are deeply rooted in Greece and its rich culture. Lato was founded in 2016 in Amsterdam, initially housed at the VU University where it was hosted for many years. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, we moved to our own space at Surinameplein, and for the past two years, we have been located at Balboaplein 2 in Amsterdam, our first independent space.

Our mission is to make the Greek language accessible to everyone by delivering high-quality education with unwavering consistency.
