When you get enrolled in one of our courses you are asked to read Lato’s General Terms and Conditions. Once you register a course or ask for another service this automatically means that you have read and agree with them.

1. Interested?

  • If you have an interest in one of Lato’s Greek courses or activities but you need more info before your enrolment, please Contact us.
  • Expression of interest does not replace the enrolment and is not enough to guarantee a place. For this reason, it is necessary to complete the registration form you will find at griekse-les.nl or using the link Enrol now under the course of your choice.

2. Enrolment

  • You can register by completing and sending the special form you will find at griekse-les.nl or using the link under the course of your choice. After sending the form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail, your invoice and useful information concerning your course.
  • New enrolments can be made until the beginning of a course and a place is reserved only if you complete a Registration Form.
  • If for any reason you want to enrol but start later, please contact us before the starting date and make it known to us.
  • As a rule, Lato tries to offer all the group courses listed in the program, even if the number of participants is not enough. Sometimes though, this is not possible. In such a case you will be informed about the available options.

3. Payment

  • Course fees quoted by Lato do not include course materials, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
  • Course fees are stated on Lato’s annual program and additionally on the Registration form.
  • Course fees are paid in advance with the use of the iDeal payment method,  at the end of the registration Form.
  • Payment in parts is an option only for year-courses. In this case, please Contact us.
  • For Private or Semi-private lessons, see Paragraph 14 ( Private & Semi-Private lessons / Payment & Cancelation Policy).
  • Does your employer pay your course fee? In this case, we can send an invoice directly to him/her. You must provide us with written permission from him/her and also his/her invoicing address and details.
  • If you do not have written permission from your employer when you make your enrolment, you need to pay the course fee yourself and then to provide your employer with the official invoice, in order to reimburse you.

4. Conditions of Cancellation & Refunds

4.1. Cancellation by a participant

  • Only written cancellations through the Contact Us form can be accepted.
  • If you cancel your course up to 10 working days before the starting date of the course, an administration/cancellation fee of € 55 is deducted from your course fee. Less than 10 working days prior to the start of a course no fees refund or fees transfer is possible.
Fees -as a rule- cannot be transferred to cover payment for a course in another period/ semester or academic year. An option is to transfer your fees to private lessons, but you need always to Contact Us for a special agreement.

4.2. Cancellation by Lato

  • Lato reserves the right to cancel a course if there are not enough participants. We do always our best to provide an alternative. If there is no satisfactory alternative, Lato will refund the course fees in full.
  • All administrative questions should be directed to Lato via the Contact Us

5. Placement

  • Before you start your lessons, it is highly advised to evaluate your level, completing a Placement Test. A placement test consists of a written and an oral part. At the end of your test, the instructor will evaluate it at your presence -live or online- and will give you more information about your level.
  • The cost of a placement test is € 20, but this amount is deducted from the tuition fees upon enrolment.
  • If your level is absolutely beginner, no placement test is needed.
  • If a student disagrees with the teacher’s evaluation and he insists to join a higher level, s/he can do so at his/her own responsibility.Additionally, see Frequently Asked Questions (Signing In)

6. Attendance

  • Students are expected to attend regularly. In case of absence, it is the students’ responsibility to catch up. Teachers are not obliged to inform students privately. Βut you can always contact your teacher and ask him to inform you about the material you need to study. In case you have some extra questions about topics that were covered during your absence, your teacher will hear your questions during the break or at the end of the lesson.

7. Evaluation

  • An evaluation takes place during a private conversation and not in public. This happens always before or after a lesson.

8. Intellectual Property

  • Materials supplied during the course are intended exclusively for use by course participants. That is why course participants ought to respect copyright protected material. No material or parts of the material may, therefore, be reproduced and/or transmitted to third parties, in any form or by any means, printed, photocopied, microfilm or otherwise, without prior written permission of Lato.

9. Holidays

  • The courses always follow the official public holidays. Courses are also not offered during the Orthodox Holy Week and Easter. For this reason, it is absolutely essential to check out the detailed program for the whole term (days & times) which is to be found on the “Read More” drop off menu of the courses.

10. Replacement of teacher or trainer

  • Lato is at all times authorized to replace a teacher/trainer by another teacher/trainer, in case of illness or other unavoidable circumstances.
  • In case no substitute teacher is available, Lato keeps the right to cancel the specific lesson(s) and the obligation to replace them during or at the end of the course. Students are aware of the situation and their opinion is taken seriously into consideration.

11. Confidentiality

  • Lato reserves the right to take photos during the lessons for promotional purposes.
  • If a student disagrees s/he should tell the teacher beforehand.
  • All client information provided to Lato is strictly confidential and will not be provided to third parties.

12. Refusal of admittance

  • In case of default, Lato reserves the right to refuse admittance. Default includes failure to pay course fees in time or at all, and breach of order and safety regulations, which are enforced by either Lato’ s General Conditions and Terms or the location where the courses are given.

13. Participants’ responsibility during courses and events

  • Your participation in Lato ‘s courses, activities and events is at your own initiative and for your own responsibility. For accidents or injuries during a course or event, Lato accepts no liability, participants carry the sole responsibility.

14. Lessons

14.1.  Private & Semi-private lessons- Payment & Cancellation Policy 

At Lato you always have the opportunity to take lessons alone or with a small group of friends, deciding your personal pace and your particular needs. Private or Semi-private lessons are offered also online via Zoom.

14.1a.  Private lessons (1 to 1)

Contact Us in order to send you our rates and more information material about our Private or Semi private lessons.
  • For sessions of 1 hour, all the transportation costs of the teacher within Amsterdam are added on top of the standard charge. For sessions longer than 1 hour this charge is exempted.
  • Transportation costs outside of Amsterdam are always added to the course fee unless otherwise is agreed.
  • A package of 10 lessons or less should be paid in full latest 7 working days before the start of the first lesson. For a package of more than 15 hours, payment in instalments is possible.
  • To all lessons- private 1 to 1 or Semi-Private (with your own group)- the policy of timely cancellation applies. That means that a lesson should be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, in order to be rescheduled. In order to cancel a lesson please inform us via e-mail or text message (messenger, SMS). Otherwise, the charge remains without obligation of rescheduling.

14.1b. Lessons with a group of friends

  • Semi-private lessons, which means lessons with your own group, take place at the place of your choice or online.
  • A common group is up to 3 students. For groups of 4 students or more special rates apply. Contact Us in order to send you our offer.
  • A package of 10 lessons or less should be paid in full latest 7 working days before the start of the first lesson. For a package of more than 15 hours, payment in instalments is possible.
  • To all lessons- private or group- the policy of timely cancellation applies That means that a lesson should be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, in order to be rescheduled. In order to cancel a lesson please inform us via e-mail or text message (messenger, SMS). Otherwise, the charge remains without obligation of rescheduling.
  • No fee is refunded in case that one or more persons of the group stop after the beginning of the lessons.

  14.2.  Online lessons 

  • For all online lessons cancellation policy applies.
  • In case you are late, your teacher will be available for the next 15 minutes. After 15 minutes he will not be online anymore, and your lesson will be charged.
  • Please note that you need a high-speed Internet connection. However, if the connection fails and you cannot connect again within the following 5 minutes, you will arrange another day to complete the lesson.
  • If you face a technical problem, contact your teacher as soon as you realize it. That is why you are highly advised to enter your virtual classroom a bit earlier, even if you keep your video and sound off.

15. Cultural presentations (“Greek Traditions”, “Discover Unknown Greece”)

  • Full payment of the chosen services must be made at least 10 working days before the activity.
  • If you cancel your registration up to 7 working days before the date of the event an amount of 15% of the enrolment price will be deducted from your payment as an administration/cancellation fee. In case of cancellation less than 7 working days before the start of an event, NO fees refund or fees transfer is possible.
  • In exceptional cases, fees can be transferred to cover payment of another activity which takes place in the same period/ semester. That happens only after a special agreement with Lato. Lato, however, is under no obligation to accept fee transfers.

16. Cooking Workshops

  • Full payment of the chosen services must be made at least 7 working days before a presentation or activity.
  • If you cancel your registration up to 5 working days before the date of the cooking workshop, an amount of the order of 15% will be deducted from your payment as an administration/cancellation fee. In case of cancellation less than 5 working days before the start of the cooking workshop NO fee refund or fees transfer is possible.
  • In exceptional cases, fees can be transferred to cover payment of another activity which takes place in the same period/ semester. That happens only after a special agreement with Lato. Lato, however, is under no obligation to accept fee transfers.
  • Lato reminds you that your participation in ‘’Lato meets olive cooking workshops’’ is at your own initiative and for your own responsibility. For accidents or injuries during the workshop, Lato accepts no liability, participants carry the sole responsibility.

17. Money-Back Guarantee

Up till now we are proud to say that we have only satisfied students and that is why we dare to set the bar even higher and we are sure you will enjoy your lessons. If not, we give you your money back. See the Terms and Conditions below TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • The money back guarantee applies only to group courses (Normal, Intensive and Conversation).
  • The student ought to have attended both of the first two lessons of the course s/he is registered for in full and not partially.
  • The request must be sent within 3 working days after the second lesson and in any case before the third lesson.
  • The student ought to fill in the form* and to send it by mail or hand it to his/her tutor or one of Lato’ s staff members.
  • The date of the e-mail must be within the prescribed period of the three working days. In case the form is handed in, the person who will receive it will write clearly – in the presence of the student- the date and time of the request and will co-sign it with the student. If it is sent by mail, the date of the sent email is enough.
